Mike, I always read your column in Security Installer, and value the tips you offer to us installers.
I always do my best to conceal wiring wherever possible and always like to be open to suggestions for improvement. To that end I'd like to draw on you experience. Do you know of any publication that offers tips on concealed wiring? Or do you have information on this subject. I would much appreciate any advice you can offer.

Hi Michael, thank you for reading the column and your e-mail. First I admire your attitude of hiding cables and your concern for the finished system. You ask a good question and the answer is not easy. I do not know where advice on hiding cables is written down. However, thinking about it I am at a loss to see how it could be written down when every job, every situation and every building is different. The ability to "see" cable runs is a skill that comes with time and perhaps cannot be taught. I had this problem crop up when I was teaching alarm installation, I could always offer advice when I had seen the situation but not before. I admit that I learned my skills by looking at the ways that other installers did it, often learning how NOT to do it along the way, (a good skill in itself). Some time ago I wrote a manual on alarm installation for ACT Meters and I had to duck that issue then. I am sorry that in this case I cannot offer more, perhaps some of the readers can help?
