Horror was my response when, while employed as a security officer, we arrested a shoplifter who was found to be concealing an eight-inch bowie knife. Many front-line security staff have had similar experiences. Those who work in public event, shopping centre, airport and retail security face these threats daily. For such staff this book is not a solution but it is an aid to recognition and detection, and a very graphic warning of the threat.

The book consists of an A4 loose leaf folder containing information and over 700 illustrations of improvised and commercially produced weapons, covering firearms, blades/spikes, striking weapons, thrown weapons, personal defence weapons, improvised explosive devices and common methods of concealment.

Used as a training aid the book highlights the threat of concealed weapons, and as a reference book, it will be referred to regularly by staff involved in searching members of the public.

At £275 it’s not cheap, but this is a well-produced product from a company that takes care about who may buy a copy.
