Government body the Technology Strategy Board is set to launch a £10m competition to make social housing more energy efficient.

Under the competition, due to be launched in March, the organisers are looking for at least 50 whole dwelling prototype solutions to improve a building’s energy use.

Companies will be invited to bid for contracts to refurbish example buildings covering all housing types. Bids will be judged on innovation and potential for impact as well as projected build cost. Successful proposals will be 100% funded by the organiser including costs for the design and build phases and in-use performance evaluation.

Details will be available on the Technology Strategy Board website in March, go to www.innovateuk.org.
