Construction minister Nigel Griffiths expressed concern over the growing use of criminal and insurance claims against engineers.
Griffiths said that“ the current witch-hunting and lawyer compensation culture” in construction was a major concern.

MIke Rudd, board member of the Association of Consulting Engineers welcomed the comments: “The current risk-averse culture, which in turn has led to the high costs of professional indemnity insurance, is stifling the taking of risk and presenting a barrier to innovation, science and technology.”
