Jack Pringle imagines what going into the office might mean for the foreseeable future
5am The alarm goes off. I’m one of the 50% in the office today with my team and I’m allocated a Tube journey starting at 5.45am–6am. I check my NHS app – developed from the Chinese one. My QR code is green, so I have not been in proximity with anyone with covid-19 and will be let into the Tube station and the office.
5.30am Off to the Tube with my compulsory face mask on. No face mask, no Tube ride. As I get to the Tube my QR code is checked, my temperature is taken, and I get handed a spare face mask and a squirt of hand sanitiser. Gone are the days of packed commuting. Anyone who can walk, cycle or drive to work does so. The rest of us go in on our allocated slots.
