It was interesting to read the spin put on the discussions between the RICS and the Construction Industry Council (CIC) by Max Crofts, president of the RICS (8 January, page 27)
The changes in the CIC organisation were decided by the CIC long before the bust-up with the RICS.
The changes that are taking place have not been influenced by the RICS. Far from it, they have been influenced by the other members of the CIC keen to see it retain its position as the most consistent and effective umbrella body in the construction industry.
Like with any mutual body, you only get out of it what you put in.
