I read with interest the article by Malcolm Taylor in Building (22 October, page 33). His dissatisfaction with the RICS expresses the feelings of many of its QS members.

Malcolm’s statement: “There is now a window for QSs to break free from the professions that have nothing in common with the economics of construction and create a body for QSs, taking its place with the other bodies that truly reflect the profession they serve” reflects the aspiration of many leading QSs. This led to the setting up of an independent QS body: the QSi.

The QSi, which caters solely for the interests of QSs, has since then grown steadily. Those RICS QS members who share Malcolm’s view may wish to contact the QSi at admin@qsi.com or visit the website www.theqsi.co.cu with a view to joining.
