I have yet to meet anyone with anything but praise for the Strata tower (9 April, page 38)
It can be seen all over London and adds to the skyline in so many news views. It really lays a marker for Elephant and Castle and shows how close the area is to central London. The back looks fantastic when viewed from the south so it is slightly ridiculous to suggest it is turning its back on the area.
What would you have instead – another dull, fat block of apartments that can be seen anywhere but not on the skyline? This will hopefully be the first of many regeneration projects in the area so, yes, it does stick out like a sore thumb, but in a positive way.
The rest of the area is a rather uninspiring mess that quite rightly will be razed to the ground (eventually).
