The building industry will look to Ms Sturgeon to hit the ground running with measures to kick-start life back into this crucial sector
I have every confidence that Nicola Sturgeon will do an excellent job in her newly elevated role within the Scottish cabinet - but she’s going to have an extremely busy in-tray. I am referring, of course, to her position as new cabinet secretary for infrastructure, investment and cities - a position that seems to have been overshadowed by her other new role as “minister for the referendum”.
As the closest thing Scotland has to a construction minister, and filling the very capable shoes of Alex Neil, the building industry will look to Ms Sturgeon to hit the ground running with measures to kick-start life back into this crucial sector of the Scottish economy. Through reinforced capital investment, a renewed focus on making our buildings more energy efficient and a programme to help firms recruit and retain construction apprentices, I look forward
to Ms Sturgeon redoubling the Scottish government’s efforts to put in place the building blocks for a sustainable long term recovery.
