Despite the concerns of Amicus about the use of retina scans for site security at Heathrow Terminal 5 (17 December, page 9), I can only think that anything that prevents unwanted access to sites is a good thing.

Amicus should concentrate on its members and stop acting like Amnesty International. What about my human rights and the protection of national security? Or do the general public and other site workers not count any more?

As for the use of the cameras around site to catch safety breaches, what better way is there to ensure the prevention of needless waste of life? Is Amicus really sending a message to its members that it would rather see lives lost as a result of possible safety breaches?
