The OFT has found some recruitment companies guilty of price fixing. Why is it that nothing surprises me any more?

For the past 12 years I have been freelancing as a building surveyor and have worked through six of the eight companies that have been found guilty. I have always had work, but at times I have felt like I was sold short, that someone was making a lot of money out of me and that all the results of my hard labour was going to the agency.

Now after eight weeks without work, where are these agencies? Are the looking for work for me? No. They have had their profit and are no longer interested in their older clients. They only want young players with no experience on cheap rates. Pay peanuts and you get monkeys.
