I was in Libya (12 June, page 38) during the early eighties with RMJM

Misratah (city number three then) was great. I went swimming every day after work. Snorkelling and spear fishing yielded my first and only lobster ever! Most people we met were terribly pro-British and extremely hospitable. We got invited by local colleagues to a desert picnic and learned to cook “Lybian stew” washed down with red label Johnny Walker.
