Robert Adam (7 August, page 31), calls for an end to the “deadly sin of designer egotism”

For those of us tasked with making the “unsexy” reduction of waste appealing to the design sector, he makes an interesting point.

The architectural profession should be congratulated for the way it has embraced the issue of carbon efficiency, and made whole-life costing and BREEAM ratings a priority. The concept of designing out waste, however, has failed to hit home with most architects. It is time for the “inner voice” to which Adam refers to be put to better use.
