The government is failing to cut red-tape, bureaucracy and money

Schools

I despair at the government ever figuring out how to build anything (“Consultants bag prize role on £2.4bn schools programme”, 28 September, page 9). A “technical adviser role” for £20m in fees? No matter how big the programme (and why hasn’t it been broken into smaller packages for each county and region?) there will be duplication of everything.

I was sure the idea was to cut unnecessary red-tape, bureaucracy and money.
