Your report “HVCA threatens to quit CORGI” (28 January, page 16) accurately reflected the association’s current attitude to the Council for Registered Gas Installers, and the deep concern felt within its ranks at CORGI’s increasing reluctance to consult the industry it exists to serve.

I would just like to clarify one point. When I spoke of the Heating and Ventilating Contractors Association “withdrawing” from CORGI, I was referring to the seat on the CORGI council that this organisation occupies as a gas industry “stakeholder”.

As far as our members are concerned, their continued registration (or otherwise) with CORGI is a matter for them as individual firms and not one that can – or should – be dictated by their trade association.
