The government’s energy strategy needs more than just the nuclear option
If the Severn Barrage can provide 5% of the UK’s energy requirements from tidal forces we should back it wholeheartedly, subject to provisos that protect the port and wildlife habitats (Bristol mayor warns against Severn Barrage, 18 February, www.building.co.uk).
I’m sure we would all prefer tidal to nuclear. The government’s energy strategy needs more than just the nuclear option (which seems in danger of falling apart anyway) and the expensive legacy it leaves for future generations. Let’s get on with it.
