A variety of different coloured PVC-U windows have been installed by Sheerframe fabricator H Jarvis Ltd for Bellway Homes, North East, at its Mickledales development in Marske-by-the sea, North Yorkshire.

The 15, four bedroom, detached houses are part of a larger development of 144 houses by Bellway Homes, and have been built in three individual styles to create a distinctive community. To complement the different styles, three different window colours were chosen, with the more traditional house types installed with mahogany or cream profiles, and the more contemporary homes fitted with white.

Performance was also a key issue in the specification of the windows as the homes are in an exposed location close to the North Sea, and timber frames may not have provided the new homeowners with the maintenance free living they expect.

Manny Macciocchi, divisional buyer for Bellway Homes North East commented, ‘It was important to us that the homes in this phase looked distinctive and that the windows installed added something to the character of the buildings. And, while we were keen to achieve a traditional timber window look from the outside of some of the homes, we were also conscious that buyers would be looking for low maintenance homes that also looked good on the inside.'

The Sheerframe system 6000 profile offers slim sightlines and a special gasket and weatherseal design, which eliminates the typical black line from around the glass. Windows are available with a range of glazing bars to create traditional cottage and Georgian window styles.
