The ECA’s corporate plan has been published, setting out objectives for 2005-2007. Six core objectives are:

  • the identification and better understanding of existing and potential markets;
  • establishing an optimum position in respect of certification, accreditation and qualifications;
  • achieving optimum labour relations for members;
  • the development of the ECA membership proposition and positioning;
  • targets for membership retention and recruitment to meet growth objectives;
  • development of the Association’s drive through promotion, advertising and collaboration.

The report also promises more co-operation with other industry organisations and convergence within the building services sector.

Reiterating these points at the ECA conference, director David Pollock highlighted the ECA’s wish to continue: “vigorously to pursue opportunities for joint action with SELECT and particularly with the HVCA, in the interests of economy, efficiency and greater effectiveness.”

He cited numerous potential convergences of policy and practice with the HVCA, including a joint health and safety conference, common assessment and a joint strategic industrial relations committee. The two associations are also working on a joint commercial, contracts and legal committee.
