London-based QS and PM carves itself a niche in the education sector

CM Parker Browne has scooped a further five academy projects. Together the schemes total £130m in project value. They bring the QS and PM firm's number of academy project wins up to 12.

The new schemes include Stockport Academy, a £27m school for 1150 pupils aged 11 to 18. Due on site later this year, the project is to last 18 months. The academy will replace Avondale High School. As the school is under a flight path to Manchester airport, CMPB is working with the design team to develop acoustic insulation, sealed windows and an innovative ventilation system.

CMPB has also won the £29m Sheffield Park Academy, a specialist business school for 1,300 pupils aged 11 to 18. It replaces Waltheof School.

The firm is working on a second academy in the city, Sheffield Springs, on the site of Myrtle Springs School. Building is already underway on the £28m scheme and is due for completion in January 2008. The school will specialise in performing arts and cater for 1350 pupils.

London-headquareted CMPB is also working on an academy that will replace Drayton School in Banbury and an academy in Swindon for pupils aged 3 to 18 sponsored by United Learning Trust.
