I would like to take the opportunity to highlight a few points raised in the Bench Test article (Security Installer, October 2005 edition) which require correction.

The MicroGarde offered on the UK market is the single door version (MicroGarde 1). It should be noted that it is possible for users to connect two of our eXprox readers to this controller which therefore can provide read in/read out and true anti-passback functionality.

The article stated that a MicroGarde access control system can comprise of up to eight MicroGarde units. In fact a MicroGarde access control system can comprise up to two hundred MicroGarde units, meaning that between one and 200 doors can be controlled by a MicroGarde MG1 network containing up to 200 controllers, and between one and 400 doors can be controlled by a MicroGarde MGII network containing up to 200 controllers.

Up to 5,000 individually identifiable cards can be supported by the MicroGarde. In addition, the default number of events that can be held in the log is 1,000. The MicroGarde PC software does however allow the user to configure the amount of memory allocated for cards or events. Therefore the user could increase the number of events which the memory can store in the log but this would be to the detriment of the number of cards that can be stored.
