City of culture: African drumming group River Niger is among the Liverpudlian arts groups to benefit from the council’s announcement of a £420,000 Creative Communities grant.

The grant is set to trigger a further £1.6m in match funding. More than 80 groups will benefit from the grants, which aim to fund activity based around Liverpool’s Faith in One City Year 2004.
