The 2006 National Training Awards for the building services engineering sector took place earlier this year, helping to recognise the industry’s emerging talents.

CIBSE was proud to sponsor the Engineering Technician of the Year award, won by Chris Roach, which highlighted the work done by young engineers and the importance of supporting them properly.

Organised by SummitSkills, the Sector Skills Council for building services engineering, the ceremony is now in its sixth year and brings together employers, educational representatives and industry leaders to announce the winners in categories such as Operative of the Year, Professional Engineer of the Year and Outstanding Achievement awards.

“The past year has seen an increased awareness of the sector’s skills gap and I am pleased that significant advances have been made towards solving the long-standing issue,” explained SummitSkills’ chief executive, Keith Marshall.
