Institution part of joint venture lobbying for greater co-operation with China on education and standards

CIBSE claims it has made significant strides to establishing educational standards and a legal identity for itself in China.

The institution is part of a joint venture with 16 other associations and institutions such as the RIBA and CIOB working to establish close links with the industry and organisations in the Far East. The PI-UKChina group has released an annual review updating its aim to inform and develop ties with the Chinese construction sector.

The review said the group was planning to create a China-UK Centre for Professional Excellence in Chongqing which will offer training and, qualification and e-learning for UK professional wishing to work in China.

It added that "good progress" was being made in allowing bodies such as CIBSE to have legal identity in China.
