CIBSE has signed a memorandum of understanding with the British Institute of Facilities Management (BIFM) to develop and promote excellence in fm practice.

The agreement will enable members of each organisation to register as partners of the other and benefit from the services and events on offer from each institution, such as training courses.

The bodies will also collaborate on a strategic level in areas of common interest, such as research, publications and accreditation and assessment schemes.

CIBSE president Graham Manly said: “FM and the operation of buildings are becoming increasingly important for our members, particularly because of the growing emphasis on whole-life performance of buildings. The Institution has collaborated with the BIFM in the support of events, but this agreement takes the relationship onto a whole new level”.
