Birmingham City Council's Local Authority Building Control (LABC) office is the first to be awarded Chartered Building Consultancy status in the UK.

Chartered Building Consultancies must comply with industry safety regulations and best practice, demonstrate that they manage their operations efficiently and employ competent and trained staff.
