The installation of underfloor heating has helped a Midlands-based charity reduce its energy consumption substantially and half its heating bills.
The National Institute for Conductive Education (NICE) has halved its heating bills at one of its UK sites following the installation of underfloor heating.

The Speedheat system was installed in the charity’s 17th century Midlands mansion following its donation by Birmingham City Council to found a national centre of excellence. One of the conditions of the development agreement was the reinstatement of the derelict mansion.

Prime considerations in the selection of the system included cost and preservation of the building’s heritage. It also had to cater for the range of room sizes – on the ground floor there are three large rooms with high ceilings that must be kept at an even temperature – and the variety of clients, who span all age ranges and often work in bare feet, making safety an issue.

The installation carried out by Speedheat has cut heating bills by 47%, giving a saving to date of £6000.
