Firm working on road, education and hospital schemes

PM consultancy, ChandlerKBS is working on various projects, including the first ever road to link north and south Ireland, helping universities relocate, taking on many public health schemes and supporting the digital switchover programme.

A1/N1 Newry to Dundalk link road

ChandlerKBS is providing procurement, partnering and cost advice for the first major cross border road scheme with joint employers, Northern Ireland’s DRD Roads Service and Louth County Council of the Republic of Ireland.

Associate, Ian Morris said: “The scheme is a key link in improving the road network between Dublin and Belfast and the cross border aspect makes it all the more interesting.”

The €90m scheme will provide a road link between Al and the N1 roads and is due for completion by December 2007. Working with a joint venture company comprising of Irish company, SIAC and the multi-national, Ferrovial, it will involve the construction of 14km dual carriageway including twelve bridges, fourteen culverts and a pedestrian underpass.

Queen Margaret University College

ChandlerKBS was commissioned by Barclays Banks to provide due diligence services for Queen Margaret University College in the relocation from its existing site in Corstorphine, Edinburgh to the new site near Musselburgh outside the Scottish city.

Valued at £46m, the scheme is due for completion in July 2007.

Bethlem Royal Hospital and Lambeth Hospital secure units

ChandlerKBS has recently become involved in two significant projects through the Procure21 initiative. Valued at £25.3m and £8.2m, the Bethlem and Lambeth Hospital schemes provide the Mental Health Trust with additional medium secure unit accommodation.

David Beale, partner at the company said: “The health sector is a growing market for us, and with the government committed to continual investment in health we envisage that our market share will continue to grow.”

Other company projects in the health sector include an extension to Theatre Land, a medical gases project and a decontamination project at the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton for Brighton and Sussex University Hospital NHS Trust.

Procurement support for UK digital switchover programme

National Grid Wireless has appointed ChandlerKBS to provide strategic procurement advice for the construction of an alliance to deliver the necessary upgrade to the UK broadcast infrastructure.

Partner, Simon Lander said: “This is a project which touches virtually everyone in the UK, with no option than 100% successful delivery. We have been able to develop a collaborate solution in the broadcast sector which will harness the skills of the client and supply chain to deliver this changing programme.”

The alliance will support the switchover from analogue to digital signal throughout all regions in the UK which has to be completed by 2012.
