ChandlerKBS appointed on £60m Spires Centre scheme

Property consultant ChandlerKBS is providing strategic procurement advice, project management and full cost management services for the £60m Spires Centre scheme in Newport.

The project, carried out by the firm’s Cardiff office, is part of the regeneration of the city to be completed ahead of the Ryder Cup in 2010.

Associate at ChandlerKBS Paul Rogers, Cardiff said: “This is a high profile and important scheme for the city of Newport and it is exciting for us to be involved with the developers Modus on this project.”

The Spires Centre situated on a gateway site to the city will occupy a strong mixed use and retail location. Work will include the demolition of part of the existing Cambrian shopping centre and car park and the construction of a mixed use scheme, consisting of a new 30 storey residential apartment tower providing 203 apartments, an 8 storey office block, a 120 room 3 star hotel, retail space and a 832 space car park.

The scheme iis due for completion in 2010.
