I was alarmed by your news story which appeared in a recent issue of your magazine (Knowles bidder Systech headed by cleared fraud case defendants, QS News, 20 January).
It is not within my nature to condemn a person accused of a crime and not found guilty. However, it is a different matter when it is recorded in a national technical magazine that matters relating to the criminal charges have been openly discussed with me when such matters have never even been hinted at in my presence.
It is correct that I held a confidential meeting with Stephen Rayment and Mark Woodward-Smith of Systech. Following this meeting a confidential offer was made by them for my shares in James R Knowles, which was rejected.
I have been disappointed following these confidential matters to read about them in the technical press as a result of press releases which emanated from Systech.
It is matter for me to decide to whom my shares in James R Knowles are sold.
Roger Knowles, chairman, James R Knowles
