John Allen, editor of the CIOB International News website, was presented with the Special Lifetime Achievement Award at the International Building Press awards in November in recognition for his distinguished services to journalism. He is appreciated around the world for his insightful, investigative pieces about the industry in all its fascinating manifestations around the world. His career spans the Municipal Journal (1948), The Surveyor newspaper (1952-63) and he headed up Construction News for nearly 30 years, in an unbroken run as editor from 1971-91, and later as editor-in-chief.
