SIR – I read with interest Graham Levinsohn’s article on the current state of play in the Cash-in-Transit sector (‘Winning the cash war’, Guarding Watch, SMT, July 2004, pp45-46).
However, the piece doesn’t make any mention of a British Standards Institution (BSI) Publicly Available Specification (PAS 40) covering ‘Banknote Theft Deterrent Systems using Dye or Smoke-Dye’ which was issued early on in 2003.
The objective of PAS 40 is to establish performance criteria and tests for the various systems on the market so that security practitioners can refer to some reliable guidance.
