The Carbon Trust has announced a major energy efficiency partnership with the University of Bath.
The partnership aims to assist the University in making reductions in energy use and carbon dioxide emissions. The agreement comes as the university is planning to double the size of its Swindon campus, adding 100 000 m2 of new buildings and other facilities. The new site will result in a steep change in energy consumption and transport activity and the University is keen to develop a co-ordinated approach to managing its future carbon footprint. The partnership's activities will be delivered through Action Energy, the Carbon Trust's energy efficiency programme.
Objectives include: developing and implementing an organisation wide energy and carbon-management policy aimed at improving energy and emissions performance; identifying how best practice can be rolled out across the university sites; and identifying how Action Energy's technical resources can be applied to facilitate delivery of the improvement programme. Martin Brooks, energy manager of the University of Bath says: "This partnership is a step forward for us in making substantial efforts towards reducing carbon dioxide emissions."
