Wandsworth win brings firm’s academy projects to eleven

Capita Symonds has scooped a city academy project in Wandsworth, South London. The £12.9m job will convert the existing ADT City Technology College to an academy specialising in ICT and design technology.

The project is due for completion in September 2008. It will be delivered through two separate construction contracts - design & build and traditional procurement.

The scheme includes a new teaching block for performing arts, music and ICT suites. There will also be redevelopment of off-site sports facilities, which will be available for community use. The new school will offer 1050 places for 11-16 year olds and 250 places for sixth formers.

The project is being sponsored by the Prospect Education Trust.

Capita Symonds said it was acting as construction project manager on eleven of the 49 academies currently in development.
