Gensler’s floating Thames promenade wins Mayor’s Award for Planning Excellence
Gensler Architects’ proposal for a mile-long floating river promenade beside the north bank of the Thames has won the Mayor’s Award for Planning Excellence at the 2011 London Planning Awards.
Mayor Boris Johnson praised London River Park for its “sheer beauty” and encouraged its completion by 2012. Of the seven other award categories, Enfield Town library by architect Shepheard Epstein Hunter won Best Built Project and Stirling-nominated Clapham Manor Primary School by architect dRMM won Best Built Community Project.
