Bennetts Associates went home a double winner as construction’s most eco-friendly practitioners were honoured at Building’s Sustainability Awards
‘Collaboration is the key to delivering sustainable projects.” That was the message from the winner of the Sustainable Leadership category at last week’s Building Sustainability Awards.
Speaking in front of over 250 guests, Rab Bennetts, founding partner of architect Bennetts Associates, said: “When we set up practice in 1987, we believed in collaboration as the only way to go places. You can’t do sustainability alone”.
It was a double night of celebration for the architect as Bennetts Associates also won the Sustainability Project of the Year award for developments over £2m with the Elizabeth II Court building in Winchester.
Byrne Bros (Formwork) picked up the award for Sustainable Contractor of the Year and Gentoo Construction won Sustainable Housebuilder of the Year, while Atelier Ten bagged the Sustainable Consultant gong. RuralZED’s houses in Northamptonshire won the Sustainable Project award for schemes under £2m.
Phil Spencer (pictured, right), presenter of Channel Four’s Location, Location, Location, handed out the awards at King’s Place in London’s Kings Cross.
