Companies looking to recruit or develop female employees could benefit from an additional £660,000 of government funding through ConstructionSkills.

During phase 1 of Women and Work Sector Pathways Initiative more than 2,200 women received training and support. Phase 2, which runs for the next three years, will target a number of areas including recruitment of female apprentices and graduates, women returners and progression for women currently working in clerical and administrative roles.

Among the firms to benefit from phase 1 was Warden Construction. One of its quantity surveyors, Stacie Arrowsmith, attended a Women Leaders in Construction Course: ‘I go out on construction sites on a regular basis and the course has given me extra confidence, which in turn has helped others take me seriously,’ she said.
