BT redcare has supplied its CCTV image transmission systems to Arsenal Football Club's new Emirates Stadium development.
The system was used for the first time at Dennis Bergkamp's Testimonial match on Saturday July 22.
On match days the control room at the 60,000 capacity stadium in Islington, north London, will be manned by both police and the stadium management team, and will be used to monitor supporter movement and manage police activity both in and around the stadium, including local train and bus stations and the routes linking them to the stadium.
BT redcare has provided two dedicated high-bandwidth communication links. A BT redcare RS1000 two-way analogue data circuit links the stadium control room to the CCTV control room operated by Islington Borough Council.
A BT redcare RS1000d two-way digital circuit links the stadium to the main Metropolitan Police CCTV control room at New Scotland Yard. This circuit combines the ability to transmit analogue CCTV data images and digital data over its built-in Ethernet channel.
The system will allow the stadium's control room to view images not directly connected to the control room, including public space surveillance CCTV from the Borough of Islington and cameras at transport hubs involving Transport for London.
In the event of a serious incident which causes the stadium control room to be evacuated, the system allows both the Metropolitan Police and the London Borough of Islington control rooms to take over control of the stadiums CCTV system, effectively providing a 'back-up' of control rooms.
