BSRIA has installed a mini combined heat and power (chp) system to demonstrate its support of renewable energies.

The Association now continuously generates 5·5 kW of electricity, which is used to support servers, associated cooling and other electrical equipment. The 15 kW of heat generated by the unit is used for space heating. Operating efficiencies are around 92%. The unit was donated and commissioned by Baxi Group. Andrew Eastwell, BSRIA chief executive, comments: “We believe this initiative will raise awareness of sustainable forms of energy that bring benefits to the environment.”
