BSRIA Air Tightness Testing Services will be the specialist contractor for Part L2 compliance on the new £100 million redevelopment of Manchester's Arndale shopping centre (see BSj, July 2003).
The £110 000 testing contract runs for three years. The aim is to combine design review consultancy with sub-contractor briefings, site inspections and air tightness testing.

David Pickavance, general manager of testing services at BSRIA, says: "Our team will include experts in air tightness testing, buiding fabric design, project management and site inspection services."

BSRIA is a founder member and current chair of the Air Tightness Testing and Measurement Association (ATTMA). This has now been put forward to the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister as the industry self-certification body to demonstrate competence as required by Part L2.
