BSIA chief executive David Dickinson has won the security Industry Personality of the Year Award. The Award - presented at the IFSEC Gala Dinner on Monday 8 May and sponsored by JVC - was bestowed by a specially-selected Academy of security professionals in recognition of David's tireless commitment to the industry.

Having collected his etched glass trophy, Dickinson told SMT: "I am both surprised and thrilled to receive this honour, and thank the Academy very much for their kind words of support and encouragement."

The BSIA chief executive has also won the Mervyn David Award for 2005, bestowed by ASIS International's UK Chapter 208 in honour of the body's first honorary president and, on this occasion, to recognise Dickinson's "outstanding contribution" to the UK security profession since he took over at the BSIA in 2002.

One of David's key achievements has been his active role in the creation of Skills for Security. He also continues to be hugely active and vocal during debates over regulation and the wider police family.
