The British Security Industry Association (BSIA) has announced the regional winners of its Security Officer of the Year Awards for 2005

The regional winners of the British Security Industry Association’s Security Officer of the Year Awards for 2005 have been announced. The awards scheme – sponsored by insurer Camberford Law plc – recognises excellence among private sector security officers in the following categories: Service To The Customer, Outstanding Act, Best Newcomer, Best Use of Technology and Best Team.

Speaking about the awards scheme – covered in-depth every year by Security Management Today – BSIA chief executive David Dickinson commented: “Once again, the standard of entries has been outstanding. Those entries have been received from across the guarding sector, and to suggest that the selection of winners from among such excellent nominees was a tough job would be something of an understatement.”

Dickinson added: “With Security Industry Authority licensing now underway, the winners of the 2005 BSIA Awards will act as superb role models for their fellow officers in these increasingly changing times. Their acts of bravery, innovative use of new security technologies and teamwork are commendable. They demonstrate the real value that the private security industry brings, not only to the customers it serves but also the wider community and the police.”

The regional winners now pass through to the national judging phase, which culminates in the presentation of the awards at the BSIA’s Annual Luncheon (see this month’s BSIA Briefing on page 25 for further details). This event takes place on 22 June at the Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane, London and is sponsored by SSR Personnel Services.
