The British Security Industry ASSOCIATION (BSIA) HAS ANNOUNCED the launch of a new Security Consultancies Section.

Encompassing the security consultancy organisations that the BSIA previously numbered among its associate membership, the intention behind the move is to attract numerous companies from across the consultancy sector and offer them a genuine voice both prior to and post-SIA regulation.

Ian Johnson – the managing director of Ian Johnson Associates and a member of SMT’s Editorial Advisory Board – is the inaugural chairman of the BSIA Section, with Owen Griffin of Surelock Asset Management serving as vice-chairman (see also this month’s BSIA Briefing section on page 18 and Letters To The Editor, pp13-14).

Johnson believes it is the right time for the new Section, given that many consultancies are currently looking for trade body representation prior to the invocation of Security Industry Authority licensing of practitioners in the sector early in 2006.

Inaugural members of the BSIA’s newest dedicated Section include ArmorGroup Services, Ian Johnson Associates, the Ramesses Group, Redvers Hocken Associates, Surelock Asset Management, TPS Consult and VIDEF Security Consulting.
