The British Security Industry Association (BSIA), the Security Industry Training Organisation, JobCentre Plus and the Security Industry Authority (SIA) are the lead partners in an all-new initiative aimed at promoting careers in the security sector.
'Why Security?' – a ten-page guide aimed at encouraging individuals to consider a job in the industry – takes a close look at what it's really like to work in the sector, and exactly why it's an exciting career choice.

With SIA regulation expected to create a 'recruitment challenge', the booklet places particular emphasis on factors that could attract new people into the industry, such as the sheer variety of security work, regular training and the opportunity to work flexible hours.

Case Studies in the guide feature six individuals employed in different roles, including an installer, site supervisor and a Cash-in-Transit officer.

Officially launched last month at IFSEC 2004, the booklet will now be distributed to all JobCentres in England, Scotland and Wales, as well as at job fairs and relevant industry events around the country.
