Developers have been given the green light to create a £150m urban village on Brighton's largest brownfield site.

The New England Consortium has completed a complex legal agreement with Brighton council, providing for a superstore, two hotels and 355 homes – a third of them affordable.

Work on the site, which is next to the city's station, should begin early in 2004.
