10:50AM Peter Rogers steps down after four years

Mace boss Bob White has been confirmed as the new chairman of Constructing Excellence. Don Ward, chief operating officer of the industry body, will step up to the role of chief executive. Peter Rogers, the current chairman, is stepping down after four years in the role.

White will retain a non-executive role with Mace. He said: "As a bridge between clients, industry and government, we are the only pan-industry supply chain organisation able to drive forward the industry improvement agenda. We are committed to strengthening our reach around the UK nations and regions and with smaller businesses, as well as developing a number of commercial services focused on best practice and business improvement."

Ward added: "Since Egan and Latham, there has been good progress across the industry in terms of improving productivity and better working practices. However, if the sector is to meet the challenges of climate change, the sustainability agenda and delivering superior value to clients we must ensure that the progress made on integration and collaborative working is adopted wholesale across the industry."

Rogers, said: "We have achieved a great deal since 2002. The transition from a wholly-funded government body to one which has a balance of government, membership and commercial income, with membership at its core, demonstrates that Constructing Excellence and the industry improvement agenda is sustainable for years to come in the built environment sector."

White and Ward will take up their posts on 1 January.
