The British Board of Agrement have published an assessment on Laird’s Egress hinges and handle hardware for windows.

The report gives an in depth assessment on the endurance, mechanical corrosion and resistance to wear and fatigue for the Charisma 2 window handle, the Egress E1 and Select Egress friction hinges.

The programme followed a series of tests which confirmed

that the performance of these products was consistent with a 25 year predicted service life for a PVC-U window.

The hardware was subjected to 25,000 operational cycles while the Egress friction hinges was further tested in accordance with BS 6375 -2:1987; all operations were found to be normal.

The corrosion resistance results indicated that Laird hardware achieved grade (class) 4 as defined by BS EN 1670: 1998 making it suitable for coastal and industrial locations.
