Construction work is due to finish this month on a striking housing scheme in Barking designed by well-known architect Peter Barber.
The white, Mediterranean-looking buildings of the scheme on Tanner Street recall Barber's award winning development in the Donnybrook Quarter of London's East End. Barber worked on the design with architect Jestico + Whiles.
The Barking project, for Acorn Property Group, comprises 165 flats and houses, plus a public square featuring a 10-storey building.
The project received planning permission in July 2003, just 13 weeks after the design team was established.
