Two Northern housing associations plan to merge to form the region's second-largest social housing provider.
B&N Group and Leeds Federated hope the move will consolidate their hold in Yorkshire and the Humber. Martin Dean, chairman of Leeds Federated, said: "Merging with B&N will enable our impact to be greater and more effective in our communities."

The merged company would manage more than 7500 homes and a range of regeneration and healthcare projects. It would be the region's second-largest registered social landlord, after Yorkshire Community Housing.

It would look to extend its non-housing activities by working with councils and primary care trusts.

A B&N spokesman said there would be no job losses.

The Housing Corporation will decide early next year whether to allow the merger to go ahead.
