The Baltic States have been enjoying a boom in the building industry in the last few years.

According to the latest study from InterConnection Consulting Group, in the last three years, the number of window units sold, grew by an average of 16.6% per year.

Compared with the previous year, the market volume grew by 21.6% in 2005. The volume of building work grew by 180% in the period 2000-2004.

While the residential sector in Estonia was the cause of the growth, the non-residential sector was primarily responsible for the upswing in Lithuania. Despite the fast development pace, a deceleration in the market growth must be expected in the next few years.

Regarding material groups, PVC-U windows still have the market leadership. Their share of sales in 2005 was 67,8%. While PVC-U windows lost in popularity, the demand for wooden windows and wood-aluminium combinations of the new generation grew, despite relatively high prices. In 2006, however, the prices should stabilize.
