Installation time and costs were reduced on the construction of Belgrave House, London using prefabrication.
The eight-storey commercial development comprises 25 548 m2 of office accommodation. The m&e services are based around a ceiling void-mounted, chassis-type fan coil system using four-pipe units at the building perimeter of each floor and two-pipe units in the central areas of the floors.

Consultant Whitby Bird Partnership designed the m&e services for the project. These included the use of the prefabricated modules of Mapress tube and fittings from Pressfitting UK.

Mapress 15-88 mm carbon and stainless steel tube and pressfittings mounted on purpose designed and built modules are used throughout the project for the chilled water and heating circuits.

NG Bailey was m&e contractor on the project. The modules were built off site by its specialist Bailey Prefabrication Division. They are primarily a four-pipe skid on a Unistrut framework. In order to further reduce installation time the pipework was pre-lagged and air tested at the module prefabrication stage.
